About Us

GLAS is passionate about designing landscapes that transcend the ordinary. Our approach is rooted in a profound understanding of context, culture and community. This enables us to create spaces that foster deep connections with nature while championing sustainability and resilience.

Our expertise spans master planning, landscape management, design, and documentation, covering small-scale to large complex public realm projects. We partner with a diverse array of clients, including universities, councils, state government bodies, developers, and schools.

Central to our practice is a commitment to ecological and climate-positive design. We strive to create spaces where nature and human activity coexist harmoniously. Our dedication to engaging with Traditional Custodians and incorporating their wisdom into the design process reflects our respect for Country.

Through dynamic collaboration with clients and stakeholders, GLAS delivers landscapes that are vibrant, inclusive, and captivating, enriching the experiences of all who interact with them.

Our Values

GLAS Objectives

Planting

Our goal is to achieve 40% canopy cover across projects, aligning with City of Melbourne’s Urban Forestry benchmarks. We focus on maximizing soft landscaping to enhance ecological value, improve air quality, and support biodiversity through increased permeable space.

Soil

We aim to achieve 30% deep soil coverage by increasing unsealed soil areas during design development and using strata vault systems to improve soil health, in line with BADS and 52:20 guidelines.

Water

Our water strategy targets a 45% reduction in stormwater pollution through permeable areas like raingardens and swales, removing nitrogen and improving water quality during design development.

Carbon

Our goal is to design all projects to sequester more CO2 than they emit by 2030. By 2050, our efforts aim to contribute to the sequestration of 1 gigaton of CO2 beyond emissions, ensuring long-term climate-positive outcomes.

Traditional Owner Engagement

GLAS objective is to engage meaningfully with Traditional Custodians throughout the design process, incorporating their knowledge and cultural values into our projects. This ensures that our landscapes honor Country and reflect a deep respect for Indigenous heritage.

Community Engagement

We aim to involve local communities in the design process, ensuring that their needs, values, and aspirations are reflected in the spaces we create. This approach fosters a sense of ownership and inclusivity, resulting in landscapes that truly serve and connect with the people who use them.
