Mark Gillingham

Mark Gillingham is the founding Director of the GLAS landscape Architects in Melbourne with over 20 years experience as a Registered Landscape Architect practicing in Australia, Europe and the Middle East. Establishing GLAS in 2011, Mark has built a practice that delivers a variety of projects from large scale masterplanning down to the smallest pocket parks integrating urban biodiversity and ecological systems to create resilient, memorable places. GLAS has won recognition for ecologically progressive designs including the Monash Valley Creek restoration, the Wootten Reserve native grassland and the System Garden botanical restoration. In his previous role at Gustafson Porter in London, Mark had a leading role in a number of high profile landscape projects including the Shoreline Walk, Beirut (World Architecture Award 2011), the Princess Diana Memorial in London, the 2008 Venice Bienalle, and the Jebel Hafit desert park restoration in Al Ain, UAE. Mark is a sessional tutor at the University of Melbourne, running subjects exploring materiality and ecology.

Jasmine Ong

Jasmine Ong is Studio Director at GLAS providing project, business and people leadership. She is a senior executive with 20 years’ experience in design, studio management and business leadership. She has led projects globally, including UK, China and Australia. Jasmine is a National Board Director of the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA) and is engaged in industry committees for climate action, gender equity and continuing professional development. Her connection to industry is key to achieving innovative solutions and upholding high standards in the work she oversees. She has extensive experience in public and private sectors and is conversant with council and government processes. Her work spans from small scale spaces to large, complex and strategic landscape planning, all of which focuses on the creation of valuable public spaces with identity and a sense of place. Jasmine possesses a natural ability to understand the brief and site context, providing innovative design solutions and delivering evocative results. She is passionate about environmental sustainability, artful landscapes and place making. She has a track record of delivering innovative, sustainable, inclusive, culturally respectful places, and award-winning outcomes.

Gabriel Moczar

Gabriel Moczar is a landscape architect with over 6 years of experience working in practice, and is a fresh addition to the GLAS team, recently joining in early 2023. Gabriel (or Gabe) has worked across range of projects including civic spaces, streetscapes, playgrounds, rail infrastructure and campgrounds across both New South Wales and Victoria. Bringing valuable experience to GLAS, varying from conceptual design and model-making right through to detailed documentation and project delivery.

Gabe’s keen interest in landscapes, people and culture has motivated him to get on his bike and tour across various countries such as France, Netherlands, Slovenia and locally here in Australia. Taking in landscape architecture globally, and applying it here locally across a range of GLAS projects. Coupled with his passions for lo-fi landscapes, detailed design and the ‘on-site grit’ of landscape construction, Gabriel has been a welcomed addition to the GLAS team since day one.

Andrew Taylor

Andrew Taylor is a senior landscape architect at GLAS, providing well rounded knowledge of design, construction and horticulture to the team. Joining GLAS in early 2024, he comes from over 10 years of experience in design and construction, both within Australia and the United States. Leveraging his experience, Andrew strives to bring people closer to nature through innovative design and efficient project management. He is keenly aware of the ability of landscape as a medium to bring diverse communities together, and strives for cost effective urban designs grounded in their natural context.

Andrew is a leader in applying new technologies at GLAS and is passionate about finding ways to enhance project design, construction, and community engagement. Utilizing these tools for thorough investigation and visualisation, allows conceptual understanding of overall design, aesthetics and cost for ourselves and our clients.

Hilary Hoggett

Hilary Hoggett joined the GLAS team in 2020, having completed a Masters of Landscape Architecture at the University of Melbourne. Hilary provides valuable expertise in conceptual thinking, detail design and documentation, and coordinates projects through all stages of the design process. Her current projects include VSBA, Pascoe Vale Primary School, University of Melbourne- Dookie Campus, Homes Victoria, Delacombe Social and Affordable Housing, University of Melbourne- System Garden Moat and Mount Street Pocket Parks for City of Stonnington.

Hilary won the prestigious 2021 HASSELL travelling scholarship - Robin Edmond Award and the Ellis Stones Award for her graduating thesis which looked at designing for diversity of culture and emotion. She has also worked as a Landscape Architecture tutor at the University of Melbourne.

Hilary has a passion for collaboration and knowledge sharing, and brings a unique skillset set in spatial practice from her previous degree in Fine art. Driven by building community and placemaking, Hilary co-founded a community garden in 2018. The growing and sharing of food is valuable not only to her plant knowledge, but to community resilience and hyper-local living.

Bryan Choong

Bryan Choong joined GLAS in 2021. Upon graduating from the University of Melbourne, Bryan did freelance design work for residential and commercial projects, whilst doing volunteer work in green technology education and working in an eco-sustainable hospitality business. At GLAS, Bryan leads the office in BIM projects and works at various stages of project development, from concept development through to construction. He has a keen interest in resilient design in landscape systems and a passion for planting design at diverse scales. His current projects include Bendigo Government Hub, Gisborne College, Rainbow College, Mount Waverley College, Victorian Academy of Teaching and Learning (Bastow, Geelong, Ballarat, Moe) and Warrnambool Library Hub.

Jess Gaudry

Jess Gaudry joined the GLAS team in mid 2023. Jess graduated with a Masters of Landscape Architecture from the University of Melbourne in 2022 and has worked in vegetation management/planning within local government for several years. She also has a degree in Environmental Science and has experience in scientific fieldwork and various roles across the horticulture industry. Jess is interested in alternative approaches to design, prioritising retention and reuse to create landscapes that honour the embedded histories of place and materials. Outside of landscape architecture, Jess enjoys making timber furniture and hiking.

Jenny Tin

Jenny Tin joined GLAS in early 2022. She has recently graduated from the University of Melbourne, where she was heavily involved in the student association of landscape architecture and has received multiple awards, including the Ellis Stones Memorial Award and the 2023 Landscape Australia National Student Prize. Jenny has a background in graphics and object design; she graduated with First Class Honours from the University of New South Wales, and her works have also been exhibited at the Australian Design Center and Sydney Galleries. She has practiced as a graphic designer in both Hong Kong. and Australia; her keen sense of design allows her to generate excellent visualizations. Jenny is passionate about improving urban ecology and biodiversity through creative thinking.

Zachary Crowe

Zachary Crowe joined GLAS in 2023 and has recently graduated with a Masters of Landscape Architecture at the University of Melbourne. He previously completed a B.A Industrial Design (Honours) specialising in furniture design. Zachary is a Teaching Associate at Monash University and has worked as a researcher on transport projects for their Mobility Lab. He has skills in prototyping, design detailing and materials and fabrication. He is motivated by the potential of Landscapes and urban spaces to effect social and environmental change through a direct and practical design approach.

Matilda Murphy

Matilda Murphy joined GLAS in May 2024 having graduated with a Bachelor of Design from the University of Melbourne, majoring in Landscape Architecture. Throughout her studies, she developed a strong interest in how master planning can integrate ecology and social activities in public space. Matilda has furthered her knowledge of ecology and planting through working at a nursery. In her free time, Matilda enjoys exploring local landscapes through hiking, cycling and running. Before undertaking her Master of Landscape Architecture in 2025, Matilda is concentrating on developing her spatial analysis and design skills in practice.
